May 22 marks the fourteenth celebration of “Pizza Day”! This themed holiday originated in the crypto community back in 2010 when programmer Laszlo Hanyecz ordered two pizzas and paid for them in BTC.
At that time, it seemed like a good deal — 2 pizzas for just 10,000 BTC, which wasn’t worth much. But as time went on, the price of BTC skyrocketed. Since 2010, the asset’s price has surged an incredible 2,399,999,900%, from less than $0.0025 to $60,000 today! A pizza that cost $25 back then could now be worth $600 million!
Laszlo Hanyecz is the man who truly indulged in the most expensive pair of pizzas in human history!
